Rebecca Duncan Hooper

Rebecca Duncan Hooper (Becca) was born to Sherwood and Elizabeth Miller who met and married at the Baptist seminary in Louisville, Kentucky in 1920.  They were studying to be missionaries to China.  Therefore, the dream of missions was placed in her heart at a very early age. Becca feels if there is one word she would describe herself as it would be “stable.” She was married 49 years to her first husband Daniel Duncan and worked in banking for 45 years. She has lived in the same home for 60 years. Her greatest joy in life has been serving the Lord and being a mama. Becca‘s daughter, Beth and her husband Tim served as full time missionaries for 27 years. Her son Rod is a plant manager of a machine shop. He holds daily prayer meetings in his business place. After the death of her husband, DD in 2009, she traveled and did mission work with Beth and Tim and other organizations.  In May 2013, she married Marty Hooper, who established International Evangelism Ministry in 1985. During their 11 years of marriage, they traveled to many countries sharing the gospel,  Marty preaching, Becca teaching.   During these travels, they found many orphans and widows in great need.   In 2014 they started supporting an orphanage of 22 children in Mbarar Uganda.  This is now called “Marty’s Home of Hope” and has 62 children and young ladies rescued from a life of prostitution.   While in India they found 22 children living in two small rooms.  They came home and raised funds to buy a house for them and continue to support them on a monthly basis.   When Marty went to Heaven, completely unexpected, Becca finds herself left with the responsibility and challenges of continuing the support of these “Homes of Hope”.  So now at age 85, she is here continuing to tell the story.  She laughs and says she has gone from “banker to beggar”.  Her greatest joy is knowing we are raising a generation to evangelize and share the good news of Jesus in their own countries in their own language.
